Applications & criteria for admission:
If you have reached the decision that you would like to apply for a place at Wilds Lodge School please contact the local authority and request them to share the relevant paperwork to admissions@wildslodgeschool.co.uk. Please note the following eligibility criteria (and refer to the admissions policy for full details).
Wilds Lodge School having space in an appropriate class/peer group.
The learner must have a proposed draft, or final Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Details of the learners’ Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs are outlined in their EHCP.
The learner, academically, is ideally working towards their expected levels and showing readiness to learn. However Wilds Lodge School recognises that some learners are not always ready to learn, and our priority is to nurture and encourage in order to improve their readiness.
That all those with parental responsibility are in support of the placement and in agreement with the strategies and ethos of the school. Continued support of those with parental responsibility and partnership with Wilds Lodge School is essential for the success and viability of any placement.
That the learner is local authority funded. If you would like to be considered for a private fee paying placement, Wilds lodge operates a Payment In Advance Scheme. Should you wish to participate in this Payment In Advance Scheme you should contact our admissions team.
The student lives within a reasonable distance of the school. Government guidance states that the travel distance from home to school as a general rule should not exceed 45 minutes for primary and 75 minutes for secondary learners. Wilds Lodge School appreciates that due to the limited nature of SEN provision that longer journey times may be unavoidable, and so will not necessarily preclude a referral. Also, journey times may be longer for boarding placements, as travel will only be at the start and end of each school week.
After an application has been made through the local authority learners’ papers will be reviewed to ensure criteria is met. If we are able to take this application further, we will then arrange for a day or boarding assessment to be undertaken and produce an assessment report detailing the placement offer and fees. Otherwise, Wilds Lodge will contact you to give an outcome if the application cannot be taken forward at this time.
Once a placement has been agreed by the local authority, we will develop and implement a comprehensive transition plan working closely with class staff and parent/carers to ensure a successful transition to the school.
